The STR profile database of the DSMZ was expanded from 8 to 17 STR loci and thus complies with the official standard for international cell banks (ANSI/ATCC ASN-0002-2021. Authentication of Human Cell Lines: Standardization Of Short Tandem Repeat (STR) Profiling. ANSI eStandards Store, 2021.). This standard was developed by an international working group of experts (ASN-002) within an ANSI-accredited standard development organization (SDO) led by ATCC.
